Finger Lakes Visitors Connection

Link Policies

Internet and web marketing are major components in our tourism marketing tool box. In order for web marketing to be most effective, it is important that we maximize our exposure in the popular search engines like google and yahoo. It is also important that our site retains its integrity as a valuable and valid resource for the webvisitors. To this end, Finger Lakes Board of Directors has adopted a policy for links to and from our site. Basically, we are working on a reciprocal link policy. If we are hotlinked to you, then we will hotlink back to your site. A complete policy on links is located here.

If you think you are ready to submit a link request to us, please click here and fill out the form.

If you'd like to learn more about our results on the web, please click here and view some quick facts on our unique hits, page stickiness, and popular website areas. Again, the more links we have to each other, the more valuable both of our sites become.

FLVC is committed to serving the Ontario County tourism industry and increasing visitation to the county tourism facilities by tourists. In pursuit of this goal, FLVC has, through a contractual arrangement, set up a web site to disseminate county tourism-related information and resources for visitors and the tourism industry.

To enhance and extend the information and resources found on VisitFingerLakes.com, FLVC wishes to allow links to those business that are directly engaged in tourism related services and/or products that foster our mission.

The following criteria are used to determine whether a link is permissible:

  1. The linking site must include a reciprocal link back to VisitFingerLakes.com. The reciprocal link must be highly visible, relative to other links on that site, and used as provided by the FLVC. FLVC's link will read Finger Lakes Visitors Connection, Ontario County, NY and where applicable the reciprocal link must reflect the authorized textual and a graphical artwork to create the reciprocal link. FLVC will create the link as soon as the reciprocal link is established.

  2. Sites will be considered for linking partnerships only if the site is directly engaged in providing Ontario County tourism-related products, services or information. Exceptions to this must be brought before the executive committee of the board.

  3. The information on the partner site must be user-friendly and directly related to tourism in Ontario County. The reciprocal link should be placed in the tourism section of the site and be separate from non-tourism content, advertising or third party links that the partner site may contain.

  4. No political campaign sites or sites that advocate a political position, either by themselves or through a third party may be linked to VisitFingerLakes.com. However, links to the official sites of federal, state, and local government offices and elected officials will be permitted.

  5. No websites that promote or contain content that is offensive, obscene or in bad taste may be linked to VisitFingerLakes.com.

  6. FLVC's contract agency will be responsible for web site review and will evaluate all applications for links to VisitFingerLakes.com.

  7. FLVC reserves the right to refuse a link based on a per case analysis of the site.

These guidelines are subject to change or review that may affect current links.
